Mumbai, June, 05, 2015:-- After signing ‘Jazbaa’, ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, the former Miss World and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has signed ‘Mary Kom’ director Omung Kumar’s next, a biopic on Sarbjit Singh. In the film, Aishwarya will portray the role of Dalbir Kaur, who is Sarbjit’s older sister.
Sarabjit, biopic Based on the life of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer, who lost his way and ended up in Pakistan, only to be called a spy and being jailed till he finally was found dead. Aish will be seen playing the role of Dalbir Kaur, the fearless sister, who fought valiantly to save her brother but eventually failed to do so.
Producer Sandeep Singh said, "The role demanded a very strong character with a powerful aura, and Aishwarya perfectly fits the bill. She has given spectacular performances in all her previous movies and we are confident that she will do justice to this role.”
The film will begin shooting in Punjab this October for a release in May 2016.
