Andre Russell smashes, KKR wins over KXIP by 4 Wickets

Pune, April- 19, 2015:-- A smashes innings from Andre Russell and his 6th wicket partnership with Yusuf Pathan helped the KKR pull off a very impressive chase against Kings XI Punjab at the MCA Stadium in Pune, on Saturday.

Target 155, Andre Russell came in when Kolkata Knights Riders looked in trouble with five of their wickets were down at 60 in eight overs. The West Indies all-rounder Andre changed things around for the visitors by hitting 7 fours and 1 six and almost stole the limelight from Punjab bowler Sandeep Sharma, who completed his quota of four overs with 4-1-25-4.

Andre Russell came good when KKR had lost their stalwarts Robin Uthappa (13) Gautam Gambhir (11), Manish Pandey (12), Surya Kumar Yadav (23) and Ryan Doeschate (0).

At the other end, Yusuf Pathan gave him good company, taking a backseat in the assault and letting the Jamaican take the initiative. As a result, runs flowed to the joy of Gautam Gambhir's team.

Kings XI Punjab once again failed to put up a collated batting show as they made 155 for 8 wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday.

Skipper George Bailey's fought a lone battle with his 60, while a contribution of 33 runs by fellow Australian Glenn Maxwell took the hosts beyond 150 after KKR won the toss and elected to field first.

Glenn Maxwell, who had 15 as his best before the match, relied on Yusuf Pathan's buttery fingers to reach 33. Pathan dropped Maxwell when he was dropped at 13 in the 8th over off Andre Russell at deep midwicket.

At a point, when Bailey was running out of partners, his 63-run fourth-wicket stand with Maxwell was luxury for the Kings. Earlier, it all started with a half-hearted shot by opener Murali Vijay (0) in the first over.
